Spring Cleaning for Your Car

May 31, 2018
It’s always nice to welcome Spring with some spring cleaning. Now that spring has arrived, and your cleaning tools have been dusted off, don’t forget that your house shouldn’t be the only thing getting a fresh start. Having your car professionally cleaned is also just as important. You may have a spill or stain, or just simply want a fresh clean car, auto detailing is the way to go to prepare your car for spring.

What is Auto Detailing?

Auto detailing involves your vehicle getting cleaned thoroughly inside and out with professional grade cleaning supplies and equipment to fully enhance and restore your car. It may include any of the following:
  • Hand washing
  • Waxing the exterior of the vehicle
  • Shampooing carpets and seats
  • Applying vinyl conditioner
  • Cleaning interior and exterior windows
  • Cleaning floor mats
  • Vacuuming the trunk
You may think that you can save some money and consider doing this yourself, but it’s probably better to leave it to the professionals to ensure the best possible outcome of your vehicle. Unless you have the tools and the experience to do it yourself, some things might be complicated to remove. Some of those accidents that can provide a struggle might include these:

Smoke and Odors

Cigarette odors seem to be common in cars and can be hard to get out. Also, if you have a pet that you constantly take with you, you might know some of those hard to get out odors that come along as well. First solution you think of is probably opening the window to air out the car. Second, might be using the air freshener that you had or just bought at a carwash. Sometimes that’s all that is needed, but at times it might take a little more effort. If the odor in your car remains for more than a few days, consider professional detailing.

Human or Pet Waste

We are all human and accidents happen. Now, if an accident happens in your vehicle, you might just have a problem on your hands. If your child or pet has recently had an accident in your car, you probably shouldn’t just leave it there until you get your auto detailing. The longer it stays, the harder the stain and odor will be to remove. Try using an organic cleaner that is safe for your vehicle’s carpet or upholstery to get it out. It’s likely that either the odor or a minor stain will still stay, then auto detailing is the way to go.

Coffee and Other Liquids

You just got back to your car from a coffee run. Rushing to work you quickly set your coffee in the cup holder while rushing to put your seat belt on and next thing you know, your coffee wasn’t secured properly and now it spilled all over your vehicle. Whether you spilled coffee on your drive to work, or your child dumped his or her juice on the floor in the back seat, liquids can cause damage to your vehicle’s interior. For minor spills, having paper towels and a household cleaner could be beneficial. But larger spills require professional attention. If you had to wait too long and the spill has soaked down through the carpet and into the padding underneath, it can be a very difficult job to clean. If you are a coffee addict, you might not mind the coffee smell, but if you’re not, the padding may need to be replaced to get the smell out.
